Abstract

AbstractThe influecne of Cu‐ and Fe‐III sulfates has been investigated by potentiodynamic and gravimetric methods. The results show that there are effective (critical) inhibitor concentrations. According to the results obtained both salts inhibit the corrosion of titanium in phosphoric acid at elevated temperatures by passivating the metal. The cathodic process is then facilitated and the anodic potential is increased to values above the passivation potential. Correspondingly, there is no zone of active corrosion in the presence of these salts.
