Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of continuous nursing on quality of life and psychological status of elderly patients after hip replacement. Methods A total of 72 elderly patients after hip replacement who had been treated in our hospital from September 2014 to March 2016 were randomly divided into experimental group with 35 cases and control group with 37 cases. The patients of the two groups received the same treatment, nursing and health education during the hospital stay. Continued nursing was conducted to experimental group, including the nursing before discharge, telephone follow-up, home visit, clinical follow-up, online guidance, hospital-community cooperation to exert the function of volunteers and Yangguang lecture room.Harris hip joint scoring scale, SF-36 health questionnaire (SF-36), Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA), Hamilton depression scale(HAMD), complication occurrence were used to evaluate the living quality and psychological state for the patients of both groups. Results The scores of Harris hip scale, SF-36, HAMA, HAMD of patients in the experimental group were better (P<0.05) and complication rate was lower (P<0.05) than those of the control group at 3 and 6 months after postoperative. Conclusions Continuous nursing care can improve the psychological status of patients, and improve their quality of life.
