Abstract

Haynes® 282® is a newly developed wrought gamma prime strengthened nickel-based superalloy, introduced as a direct response for the existed limitations of Inconel 718 and Waspaloy in terms of gas-turbine applications. The mechanical response of the alloy is controlled by either a cold straining processing in solid solution annealed state, as well as through a post-deformation heat treatment. Since, there is a number of works on the effect of aging parameters on the low and high temperature strength of Haynes® 282® superalloy, very limited information is available on the microstructure, crystallographic texture and mechanical properties evolution upon the applied cold deformation step. In this work, Haynes® 282® superalloy provided in the solid-solution annealed state was subjected to the cold rolling processing up to 70% of thickness reduction. The SEM/EBSD and TEM methods were applied to examine a strain-induced structural evolution of the material, while mechanical characteristics were evaluated in microhardness measurements and static tensile tests carried out by using non-standard miniaturized specimens.
