Abstract
Both chronological and “physiological” aging of onion seeds increases the frequency of both spontaneous and X-ray induced chromosome aberrations. Both types of aging result in increased sensitivity to X-rays. In general the factors which reduce radiation damage in seeds also promote longer life. This correlation may be of value in studies on aging.
