Abstract

The study focuses on the research about the effects of Chinese aspect marker le on English simple past based on 90 narratives in simple past context. By the quantitative analysis of simple past variation, this study has mainly scrutinized the frequency and distribution features of the simple past, and the influence of Chinese perfective aspect marker le on the simple past forms and marking. The paper tries to explain the effect from the perspective of UG.
