Abstract

The hypochlorites are being so widely used and recommended for the prevention and control of poultry diseases that it would seem desirable to ascertain the true value of this type of disinfectant. There are very few experimental data to be found in the literature concerning the use of these substances in the drinking water of poultry. One of us (May: May and Segelin, 1926) has shown that dilute hypochlorite solutions apparently proved to be beneficial in preventing infection with Bacillary White Diarrhea. The results were not sufficiently conclusive to warrant definite statements in regard to the efficacy of the hypochlorites.
