Abstract

The protonation constants of pyridine were obtained in aqueous solutions of LiCl, NaCl, NaClO 4, NaNO 3, NaI, KNO 3, KI, RbCl, CsCl, MgCl 2, CaCl 2, tetramethylammonium iodide, tetraethylammonium iodide, tetramethylammonium chloride and tetraethylammonium chloride in the ranges 0 ⩽ I ⩽ 1 mol] −1 and 10 ⩽ T ⩽ 45 ° C. The differences in the protonation thermodynamic parameters of pyridine in the various solutions were interpreted in terms of weak species formation between the components.
