Abstract
The role of boron doping on the oxidation behavior of the electron beam free form fabrication (EBF3) Ti6Al4V alloys are investigated and compared to the forged alloy. The oxidation resistance of Ti6Al4V (EBF3) is inferior to forged sample, and the diffusion rate is about 1.52×10-5 cm2/s. Doping B can enhance the oxidation resistance of Ti6Al4V (EBF3) due to the effects of breaking the boundary α, disordering and shortening α and β lathes. Among doping B samples, oxidation resistance of 50 mA is better than 80 mA due to the different microstructure and finer oxide particles. And the mechanism of oxidation behavior has been discussed.
