Abstract

Objective To discuss the clinical curative effects of artificial tears and recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) on dry eye after pterygum excision.Methods All 82 examples(96 eyes)with dry eye symptom after the excision of pterygum were chosen and randomly divided into two groups,the treatment group and control group.In the treatment group,the patients were treated by rhEGF and artificial tears eyedrops.In the control group,the patients were only treated by artificial tears.The subjective dry eye Symptoms,fluorescein staining(FL),the time of tear secretion (Schirmers test Ⅰ)and tear break-up time (BUT) were observed by the slit lamp before treatment,the second and the forth week after treatment.Results There was no statistical difference between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05).After treatment,the subjective dry eye Symptoms,FL,Schirmers test Ⅰ and BUT were significantly different (P<0.01).Conclusions Artificial tears combined with rhEGF eyedrops can be effective to relieve the dry eye symptoms after pterygum excision.
