Abstract

Nondiapause and diapause larvae of the pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) were submersed in water held at three temperatures under laboratory conditions for different periods of time until 100% mortality was reached. The LT50s for diapause larvae were 11, 2.4, and 0.6 days at 8.5°, 29°, and 38°C, respectively. At 8.5° the time necessary to obtain 100% mortality was 24 days. Both respiration under water and anaerobiosis were demonstrated.
