Abstract

(Cu 0.56Zr 0.44) 100− x Al x series bulk metallic glasses were prepared by using copper mould suction casting method. The thermal parameters were obtained by thermodynamic analysis. Longitudinal and shear ultrasonic velocities were measured by water-immersion focusing method and the elastic parameters were calculated. Results show that the elastic properties are improved with increasing Al content, which is attributed to the stronger interaction of Al–Zr than Cu–Zr. Furthermore, the more the elastic properties, the higher some of the thermodynamic parameters such as Δ T, T x , T g / T 1 and T x / T m are.
