Abstract

Mice from three strains (ICR, C57Bl/6J, and Bagg-Swiss) were exposed to neutrons at 6, 8, 12, or 16 weeks of age. Strain, as well as age, was found to influence the radiation response as measured by median lethal dose and survival time. ICR strain mice were irradiated under similar conditions at dose rates of 1, 10, 50, 100, or 200 rads/min or a pulse of radiation. There was no demonstrable effect of exposure intensity on median lethal dose or on survival time.
