Abstract

The powder-in-tube method using an Ag sheath is applied to achieve high values in critical current density Jc at 77K in the (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox tapes with Ag doping up to 20 wt%, fabricated by a combination process of cold working and sintering. Either rolling or uniaxial pressing is used as a technique of cold working, and the result is compared. The optimum sintering conditions to obtain a maximum value of Jc at the respective levels of doped Ag are presented and discussed. The enhancement of the absolute value of Jc at 77K and 0T, together with the improvement of the Jc vs B properties for 0≤B≤lT, is achieved by Ag doping, when a cold rolling technique is applied for tape fabrication
