Abstract
The aim of the study is to pilot test in the primary care setting a pain communication plus virtual practitioner coaching intervention with 40 older adults who have moderate or greater osteoarthritis pain. A randomized, controlled, double-blind design is used. To control for practitioner differences older adults are randomized within practitioner. Group 1 is taught about pain communication and is coached to communicate by the virtual coach, and group 2 is taught only about pain communication. Both interventions are displayed via a laptop computer.
