Abstract

ABSTRACT An orbit and mass for a hypothetical trans-Plutonian planet is determined which reduces the residuals in the time of perihelion passage of Halley's comet at the seven apparitions from 1910 to 1456 by 93%. The effect of this hypothetical planet on the major planets is briefly discussed, and it is shown that the residuals of two similar periodic comets, Olbers and PonsBrooks, are also improved. Key words: comet - Halley's comet - planet - trans-Plutonian
