Abstract

We investigate the effect of a reinforcing ring on the stress-strain state of a cylindrical shell in the geometrically nonlinear problem with a nonaxisymmetric load on the edge. The nonlinear boundary-value problem is reduced to a sequence of linear problems by the quasilinearization method. The linear problems are solved by the discrete orthogonalization method. The results obtained using linear and nonlinear theory are compared.
