Abstract

In a 30-month study of the effectiveness of dicalcium phosphate gum in the reduction of dental caries, there was a significant reduction in DFS and DMFS increments in children who chewed sugar-phosphate gum as compared with those in the children who chewed the sugar-containing gum. Significant reductions in caries increment in the sugar-phosphate group compared with the sugar group range from 26 to 37 percent for DF teeth.
