Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper presents the economic aspects of computerized open-pit design. The objectives of open-pit design and the design methods are reviewed. Factors to be considered in establishing the profit matrix are detailed and the implications of uncertainties discussed. A simplified case study illustrates particular aspects of establishing the profit matrix and the resultant open-pit limits achieved by varying the input parameters within the ranges of possible values.
