Abstract
The article considers the Russian gas industry development prospects in the context of the long-term contract between OAO «Gazprom» and China National Petroleum Corporation signed in May, 2014 for the supply of natural gas from the Russian Federation to the Peoples Republic of China. The contract also implies the development of oil and gas fields of Irkutsk Oblast and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), creation of a gas transmission system (GTS), along with the gas-processing industry development in East Siberia and the Far East. The possibility of gas chemical enterprises establishment in Irkutsk Oblast in the framework of the projects stipulated by creation of the GTS «Sila Sibiri» is justifed. The complex use of gas resources of East Siberia and the Far East will ensure sustainable development of the chemical complex by means of natural gas deep processing productions creation that will also have a positive effect on socio-economic development of Russian regions.
