Abstract

The early years of the Saratov Scientific Archival Commission (SSAK) have not attracted much of researchers’ attention. However, based on the published materials, it can be concluded that from its first years of existence the Commission intensively worked in all areas of its activities. The aggregation of documents that came from various institutions began, and their expertise started. An approach to the expertise was worked out. The library and the museum of the Commission were being assembled; archaeological excavations were organised. In the first two years the Commission membership expanded significantly.
