Abstract

This paper is a short overview of the problem of modelling the dynamics of liquid-liquid dispersions produced by a rotating device in a closed vessel under the assumption of spatial homogeneity. The main scope is to criticize the traditional approach, based on the definition of suitable coalescence and breakage operators, pointing out the necessity of modelling a third evolution mechanism, that we called volume scattering, having basically the same importance. This theory was presented at the Seminario Matematico e Fisico di Milano.
