Abstract

The quantum dynamics of the IR excitation of the alkyl CH-chromophore in polyatomic molecules is studied in terms of the motion of the wavepacket in a reduced coordinate space. Interesting conclusions regarding a quasi-classical behaviour on one hand and a non-classical behaviour on the other hand are drawn. The results are discussed in view of the fast vibrational redistribution existing in these systems.
