Abstract

Time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy in the nanosecond and picosecond regimes is used to investigate the dynamics of excimer formation in α-perylene crystals Relaxation into the totally relaxed excimer state occurs by thermal activation of the partially relaxed excimer state. The potential barrier height is 310 ± 30 cm −1.
