Abstract

Meteorological and structural measurements are used in conjunction with mathematical models to consider the response of the Nibe B wind turbine to the flow conditions encountered when operating in the wake of Nibe A. Measurements and predictions are also presented for the machine operating in the free stream. It is shown that operation in a wake may increase the fatigue damage rate by over 170% and that extreme loads increase by 50%. Good agreement is obtained between the predicted and measured values.
