Abstract

First-line and middle manager competence has important effect on IT application. Little is known about the dynamic effect of the first-line and middle manager competence on IT application. In this study, based on the five-stage model of IT application, independent-samples T test is conducted to analyze the dynamic effect of the first-line and middle manager IT competence on IT application with the sample size of 590. Results show that when IT application is progressing to later stages, the roles played by the first-line and middle managers become more and more important. The effect of the first-line and middle manager knowledge on the IT application becomes higher and higher. And the first-line and middle manager attitude has significant effect on IT application at the partial integration stage. 5 trait competencies have increasing effect on the IT application. And it is at the full integration stage that the first-line and middle manager’s cooperation competency begins to affect the IT application. While at the partial integration stage, the thought competency has significant effect on IT application. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
