Abstract
In this paper, the results of an experimental study of the duration of intervocalic voiceless double stops that occur in the colloquial Tamil speech of the writer are presented. Kymography and spectrography are the two experimental devices used for measuring the duration of the intervocalic double stops. From the kymographic and spectrographic evidence it was found that the duration of the closure was very long if the stop was preceded by a short vowel and considerably less if the stop was preceded by a long vowel.
