Abstract

The dual quark-parton model is extended to purely hadronic processes. An additional dynamical assumption then leads to the additive quark model for high energy cross sections, with naive quark model counting despite the more complicated character in fact possessed by the hadrons. Limiting fragmentation is also obtained. A further dynamical assumption leads to an approximation to the differential cross section in terms of electromagnetic form factors of the form proposed by Wu and Yang. Conservation of s-channel helicity in pion-nucleon and nucleon-nucleon scattering is also deduced.
