Abstract
The Dual Commitment of Social Work JOHN N. G. ROBINSON JOHN N. G. ROBINSON John Robinson read Theology at Exeter College, Oxford, and at Queen's College, Birmingham. After serving in Holy Orders for some nine years, he decided to leave the paid Ministry and enter Social Work, taking up employment as a Mental Health Social Worker with Surrey County Council in 1969. He attended the Course for the Certificate in Psychiatric Social Work in 1970-71. John made a quiet but considerable impact on both staff and students and was a person of considerable ability and potential. It was with great shock and distress that we learned of his sudden death only two months after completing the course and returning home to his wife Sheila and their three young children. A number of his friends and colleagues considered that his extended essay epitomized the depth of his concern and feeling for people and his belief in social work as a means of helping them. We thought that its publication would be a fitting memorial to a person who would have travelled far in the service of others Search for other works by this author on: Oxford Academic Google Scholar The British Journal of Social Work, Volume 2, Issue 4, Winter 1972, Pages 471–480, https://doi.org/10.1093/oxfordjournals.bjsw.a056346 Published: 01 December 1972
