Abstract

JAMES W. Irwin, well known consultant to management on industrial and public relations, in his C&EN column this week describes a Du Pont program on employee relations that should be read by presidents, executive vice presidents, and operating vice presidents, indeed, by all executives. The program is a milestone in management-employee relationships. Mr. Irwin and the editor of CHEMICAL AND ENGINEERING NEWS are indebted to the Du Pont officials for the opportunity of describing the plan in detail. The Du Pont program, as Mr. Irwin points out in his column, is applicable to medium and small companies, as well as large companies. The details will differ, of course, but the principles are the same for all industrial organizations. Progressive and enlightened management-employee relations are always desirable—they are of special importance and significance now.
