Abstract
This paper aims to study the drying-induced deformations of a clay plate exposed on one side to an air drying. The drying model is a diffusive one with material coefficients adjusted on drying kinetics. The stress-strain relationship is elastic/viscoplastic with a Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion. The corresponding six material coefficients are determined from specific experiments: shrinkage, triaxial compression of cylindrical specimens under monotone loading and creep. Some coefficients are moisture dependent and hence introduce a link between the mass transfer and mechanical fields. The results of the calculations performed are in agreement with experimental results for the plate deformation.
