Abstract

Identify factors that affect food security among rural Mexican-origin families in Central California. Families from the Niños Sanos, Familia Sana study were included in the analyses. Food security data (n=262) were collected, using the USDA 18-item Food Security Survey. In 2012, 45% of the sample reported food insecurity. Annual surveys collected food security from 2012-2015. Multivariate regression was used to examine food security trends among agricultural and non-agricultural workers. High baseline food insecurity warrants further investigation on the drought’s impact.
