Abstract

AbstractThis paper is the first of two papers that together provide an example of how to use the systems engineering processes outlined in the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook and ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2015 to develop a SysML system architecture from a user's statement of need and then to develop a mathematical system model for system reliability, availability, and maintainability that may be used to perform system design and cost‐effectiveness trade‐off analyses. This paper focuses on the development of a SysML architecture for a drone system that provides surveillance and delivery services.
