Abstract
Concerning the Quercus pubescens area in the Cluj County, the specialty literature doesn't mention too much, excepting some articles from Forest magazine. Even in the forest lot descriptions from the forest plannings, in Quercus pubescens's stead is mentioned the Quercus petraea (evergreen oak). But in some cases, in evergreen oak's stead, in the field there is downy oak. So, the purpose of this paper was the identification and description of these areas, knowing that downy oak can build habitats protected by the UE laws. After the trips in the forests, there was identified areas totalizing about 40 ha, situated in the O.S. Cluj and Gherla.
