Abstract

Gottron's eruption, one of the skin manifestations of dermatomyositis (DM) characterized by acanthosis and hyperkeratosis as well as basal layer liquefaction degeneration, is rather specific to DM and has a great diagnostic value. However, its pathogenesis remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate expression pattern of microRNAs (miRNAs) in Gottron's eruption of DM patients and to evaluate the possibility that miRNAs play some parts in its pathogenesis. miRNAs were extracted from tissues and sera of DM, clinically amyopathic DM (CADM) and healthy controls. To determine pathogenic miRNAs, we performed miRNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) array analysis.
