Abstract

This book is about a refugee who comes to Canada with her mother and six siblings as a young child. When she first arrives, a girl around her age gives her a doll. The refugee who receives the doll grows up to become a doctor and sees that another group of refugees is coming to Canada. Remembering her own experience, she goes to the airport to give the doll to another little girl arriving in Canada. This book shows young children about the importance of kindness and welcome. By paying an act of kindness forward, the author shows how human beings are connected. Illustrated with colourful pictures, the book is written in a poetic style.
