Abstract
[Mu Peng studied folklore at Peking University (M.A.1997), and taught Chinese folklore there from 1997-2001. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in the Graduate Program in Folklore and Folklife at the University of Pennsylvania. Based upon fieldwork in Hunan, China, her dissertation explores body, ritual, and everyday life experiences in constructing local religious knowledge in a rural community.]
