Abstract

With the development of power grid interconnection, once a disturbance occurs, the propagation of the disturbance take form of electromehcanical waves. Therefore, the reveal of disturbance propagation mechanism is of great importance for the power system security. In this paper, the electromechanical transient process of induction-motor load is taken into consideration for the model of power grid in the electromechanical wave study. The consistence between generator and induction-motor load during disturbance propagation is proved. Then, the structural frame model of power networks considering induction-motor load for disturbance propagation is proposed based on structural frame model. Furthermore, the propagation equation of electromechanical wave in the basic unit of the proposed model is derived. Simulation results in IEEE 14 buses system are given to show the validity of the proposed model.
