Abstract

The histochemical distribution of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in the hippocampal region of the rat was studied using a viscous incubation medium with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to reduce diffusion from fresh frozen sections. A relatively high concentration of Nitro blue tetrazolium was used, and the sections were incubated with phenazine methosulfate (PMS) to render the LDH demonstration independent of endogenous diaphorase activity.
