Abstract

Spatial variations in the near-infrared colors of the Sb galaxy NGC 7331 produced by interstellar dust indicate the presence of a massive ring of molecular gas (6 x 10 to the 8th solar masses) surrounding the nuclear bulge. The density, mass, radius, and thickness of this ring are comparable to similar structures observed within the Galaxy and M81.
