Abstract

The current distribution on the cylinder surface was determined for wire-to-cylinder positive corona discharge. The ratio of wire-to-cylinder spacing to cylinder radius was varied from 0.4 to 0.9. The corona current was varied from zero to 2 mA/m. The current distribution on the cylinder was related to the electric field on the cylinder surface calculated for zero space charge. The current density distribution was integrated to produce a relationship between maximum current density and total corona current. The total corona current was in turn related to the applied voltage by a parabolic relationship suggested by previous work with other geometries.
