Abstract
During World War II, State Department officials envisioned the postwar fate of the three million “Japanese civilians overseas” in Asia, imagining them as analogues to displaced persons in Europe, expellees, disenfranchised colonial settlers, and interned Japanese-Americans, thereby planning for the end of settler colonialism as well as the end of the war.
