Abstract

In the late 1970s, hundreds of young engineers graduating from universities in many countries across the world started their professional careers working for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. The author of this article began his career at Westinghouse upon receiving his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Back in those days, Westinghouse was one of the world's premier electrical businesses, a global innovator and manufacturer of electrical power systems, radar, nuclear energy and many others. Today, the company no longer exists. This article tells the story of what happened and offers insight on why it did.
