Abstract

The disappearance rate of skin-sensitizing antibody activity from the skin of normal volunteers was determined. Saline dilutions of serum from three patients sensitive to ragweed pollen were injected intradermally over varying periods of time and challenged with a ragweed extract. The loss of activity followed a logarithmic decay curve and was not significantly different for the three sera tested. The average half-time for loss of skin-sensitizing antibody activity of the three sera was 13 days (range: 11 to 15 days).
