Abstract

The first successful example of a halogen-free process for producing N-phenylcarbamate from CO2 and aniline without toxic or corrosive phosgene is reported here. Aniline was reacted with nBu2Sn(OMe)2 (1) in the presence of carbon dioxide (5MPa) to give the corresponding methyl N-phenylcarbamate in a yield of 80% within 20min.
