Abstract
It is shown that the simple form of relation between physical quantities which is assumed in considerations of the dimensions of physical quantities may be regarded as a consequence of the equality of two measures of a physical quantity, on any system of units, if they are equal on one system. The argument is extended to cover the method of dimensions
