Abstract
This article describes what the Digital Preservation Coalition is and why it was established. It outlines the coalition's activities and summarizes its main achievements and current programme of events. It concentrates particularly on two areas: the recently completed UK Needs Assessment and the Digital Preservation Training Programme. The article outlines some main digital preservation themes and discusses international activities. The final part of the article looks at some current key themes in digital preservation and some of the main challenges it faces.
