Abstract

Numerous E-health solutions are being created across the world, including in less advanced and emerging countries. These initiatives have a strong potential to improve access to information and care at all levels, especially in isolated regions that lack healthcare professionals, medical equipment, and infrastructure. Nonetheless, E-health deployment is still fragmented and rarely structured. It is important to support and disseminate research work to promote good practices, on the one hand, and, on the other, to harmonize its development by integrating it into public health-care systems. The aims of the E-health Observatory in Countries of the South are to identify, document, promote, and help to develop e-health initiatives in order to promote networking of the participants and the scaling up of initiatives with high potential for the disadvantaged populations of the South.
