Abstract
Samples of mixed ferrite Mn 1− x Zn x Fe 2O 4 ( x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7) have been prepared by the usual ceramic technique. X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed the spinel cubic structure for the samples. The jump length of electrons in the octahedral sites and electrical conductivity were studied as a function of zinc concentration. The increase of the jump length with Zn concentration is attributed to the substitution of Fe 3+ for Zn 2+ at the A sites which increase the B-B interaction. The increase of the diffusion coefficient and jump rate of vacancies with increasing Zn concentration expedite densification of the samples during sintering.
