Abstract

The pressure field produced behind a plane shock wave of arbitrary strength when it encounters an infinite yawed wedge at incidence is investigated. A linearized solution is obtained on the assumption that the shock meets the boundary at near glancing incidence. The solution is used to describe the pressure distribution on the wedge for different values of the pressure ratio across the shock front, and various angles of yaw up to a certain limiting value. A more accurate investigation is made of the boundary of the perturbed region, and the strength of the non-uniform shock which occurs there is calculated.
