Abstract

The article presents the problem of studying the history of the "recent past" in the modern Bulgarian school. The question is raised about the chronological boundaries, given the age of students born after 2005 and what the "recent past" is for them. Through the analysis of the textbooks, conclusions were made for the interpretation of key issues from the historical development of Bulgaria after 1989. The opportunities for developing the civic culture of the students and their active attitude to the problems in the modern world were sought. Good didactic ideas in the presentation of this complex historical matter are highlighted.
